Description

This course explores the structure and function of the temporal and limbic lobes, key regions involved in emotion, memory, behavior, and sensory processing. Scholars will study the clinical anatomy of deep brain structures like the amygdala, hippocampus, and cingulate gyrus, and learn how dysfunction in these areas contributes to conditions such as anxiety, depression, dementia, and memory disorders. Emphasis is placed on diagnostic evaluation, emotional expression, and sensory-based rehabilitation strategies tailored to lateralized brain function.

What you’ll learn:

  • Identify the anatomical structures of the temporal and limbic lobes and their afferent/efferent connections.
  • Understand the neurological basis of affect, cognition, memory, and behavior.
  • Recognize clinical presentations of temporal and limbic lobe dysfunctions.
  • Apply sensory stimulation and sidedness-based rehab strategies to improve emotional and cognitive function.
