A 40+ year mission to advance brain-based healthcare

Carrick Institute began with one vision: teach clinicians how to understand the nervous system deeply—and use that knowledge to help real people heal. It has since grown to be a full integrative health education authority, maintaining a brain-centric perspective.

The beginning

In 1979, Dr. Frederick R. Carrick founded Carrick Institute to share a groundbreaking clinical insight: many persistent health issues weren’t orthopedic, structural, or metabolic—they were all the above, and they were neurological.

At the time, functional neurology wasn’t even a term. But what Dr. Carrick saw in practice couldn’t be ignored. When you understood the brain’s role in movement, balance, perception, and recovery, you could help patients other systems had failed.

He began teaching those insights to other doctors. The results spread quickly.

Our Milestones

A single chiropractic neurology lecture became a renowned, global integrative health education platform.
1979
First course taught by Dr. Ted Carrick at his conference center in Epsom, NH, USA.
1985
Launched the first full chiropractic neurology curriculum in the world with grand rounds.
1991
Expanded to in-person courses across North America, Europe, and the Pacific Rim.

Faculty surpassed 50 instructors. Over 100 courses offered. Introduced sub-specialty courses for further diversification.
2015
Faculty of 100 instructors. 200 courses offered.
Launched ISCN: International Symposium on Clinical Neuroscience.
2017
Implementated the Flipped Classroom pedagogy. Our neurology board passing rate surpassed 90%. Offered five sub-specialty, board-eligible programs.
2022
First Master of Science in Clinical Neuroscience awarded to our inaugural cohort. Launched the first interdisicplinary concussion-management program in health education.
2025
With over 325 courses, Carrick Institute officially announced expansion into Integrative Health Education. Launched our newest learning environmnet.

Carrick Institute was built to equip clinicians with practical information that can be used to immediately improve patient outcomes while also impressing boards with our academic rigor.

From day one, our focus has been on giving you tools to change the lives of patients. That’s why our faculty still practice, why our programs evolve with the field, and why our teaching model remains grounded in practical application, not theory alone.
