A 40+ year mission to advance brain-based healthcare
Carrick Institute began with one vision: teach clinicians how to understand the nervous system deeply—and use that knowledge to help real people heal. It has since grown to be a full integrative health education authority, maintaining a brain-centric perspective.
The beginning
In 1979, Dr. Frederick R. Carrick founded Carrick Institute to share a groundbreaking clinical insight: many persistent health issues weren’t orthopedic, structural, or metabolic—they were all the above, and they were neurological.
At the time, functional neurology wasn’t even a term. But what Dr. Carrick saw in practice couldn’t be ignored. When you understood the brain’s role in movement, balance, perception, and recovery, you could help patients other systems had failed.
He began teaching those insights to other doctors. The results spread quickly.
