Course Description
Elite athletic performance reflects a complex interaction between physiology, neurology, and training methodology. In this session, Kenneth Jay explores the underlying mechanisms that enable elite athletes to generate extraordinary levels of strength, power, and endurance. Participants will examine how the nervous system coordinates muscle recruitment, regulates movement efficiency, and adapts to progressive training demands. The lecture also reviews the role of energy systems in sustaining performance and supporting recovery during intense physical activity. By analyzing the physiological profile of high-level athletes, this session offers valuable insights into how strength, power, and endurance are developed and maintained. Clinicians and performance professionals will gain a deeper appreciation for how principles from elite sport can inform training strategies, rehabilitation programs, and performance optimization across a wide range of populations.
What you’ll learn:
- Understand the physiological characteristics associated with elite athletic performance.
- Recognize how strength, power, and endurance are developed through training adaptation.
- Identify the role of neuromuscular coordination in movement efficiency.
- Explore how energy systems influence athletic performance and recovery.
- Apply performance principles from elite sport to rehabilitation and conditioning.
