Course Description
Pediatric concussion presents unique diagnostic and treatment challenges due to the developing nature of the brain. In this session, Matthew Worth explores how clinicians evaluate and manage concussion in children and adolescents. The lecture reviews the neurological mechanisms underlying concussion and explains how traumatic forces can disrupt neural networks and metabolic processes in the developing brain. Participants will examine common clinical presentations and the assessment strategies used to identify concussion-related dysfunction. The session also highlights treatment and rehabilitation approaches designed to support neurological recovery and restore normal function. By understanding how concussion affects the developing nervous system, clinicians can improve diagnostic accuracy and guide safer recovery strategies for young patients.
What you’ll learn:
- Understand how concussion affects the developing brain.
- Recognize common signs and symptoms of pediatric concussion.
- Identify clinical methods used to diagnose concussion in children.
- Explore treatment approaches that support neurological recovery.
- Apply strategies to monitor recovery and prevent long-term complications.
