Description
This 15-hour course explores the supportive and vascular structures that protect and nourish the brain, including meninges, cerebrospinal fluid, major arteries, venous sinuses, and the blood-brain barrier. Scholars will examine the anatomy and physiology of cerebral circulation and the pathophysiology of disorders such as stroke, aneurysms, meningitis, and increased intracranial pressure. Emphasis is placed on diagnostics, functional assessments, and brain-based rehabilitation strategies to support cerebrovascular integrity and recovery.
What you’ll learn:
- Describe the anatomical structures that support and supply the brain, including the meninges, CSF, and vasculature.
- Identify clinical conditions such as stroke, aneurysms, and CSF leaks, and understand their neurological impact.
- Perform comprehensive neurological evaluations to localize intracranial dysfunction.
- Apply brain-based rehabilitation techniques to support recovery and plasticity following vascular injury or dysfunction.
