Description

This flipped-classroom module introduces foundational concepts in the clinical neuroscience of concussion and mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). Delivered through self-paced online learning, participants will explore updated consensus guidelines on the definition, causes, and pathophysiology of mTBI, along with acute management protocols and treatment strategies. This primer prepares clinicians for deeper exploration of concussion rehabilitation in future modules by reinforcing critical knowledge and clinical decision-making for early-stage concussion care.

What you’ll learn:

  • Define concussion and mTBI and differentiate among causes and classifications.
  • Understand the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying concussion-related symptoms.
  • Review epidemiological data and the scope of mTBI across patient populations.
  • Implement acute care and urgent management strategies based on current best practices.
  • Identify evidence-based treatment approaches for the acute phase of concussion recovery.
