Description
This 15-hour course introduces functional neurology practitioners to the use of the phoropter for neuro-visual assessment. Without prescribing lenses or correction, clinicians will learn how to evaluate convergence, divergence, accommodation, and phoria imbalances—especially relevant in post-TBI patients and athletes with subtle visual performance issues. The course emphasizes practical tools like the Maddox Rod, NRA/PRA, fusional vergences, and phoria testing to identify binocular vision dysfunctions and guide rehabilitation strategies.
What you’ll learn:
- Understand the structure and purpose of the phoropter in neuro-visual assessments.
- Identify visual dysfunctions related to TBI, such as convergence insufficiency and accommodative issues.
- Perform tests including Maddox Rod, phoria break, and NRA/PRA to evaluate binocular vision.
- Apply findings to support diagnosis, rehab planning, and referral collaboration.
