Course Description
This 25-hour course is the fifth module in the Neurochemistry and Nutrition series and delivers an in-depth, case-based exploration of neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration. Topics include protein misfolding, amyloid pathology, α-synucleinopathies, tauopathies, mitochondrial dysfunction, and the gut-brain axis. Participants will learn modifiable risk factors for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, and how to apply evidence-based, non-pharmacological strategies to address neurodegenerative conditions. Practical instruction includes intake strategies, lab interpretation, dietary protocols, and supplementation planning.
What you’ll learn:
- Understand the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative conditions including protein misfolding and mitochondrial dysfunction.
- Identify modifiable risk factors for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and related disorders.
- Assess the role of the gut-brain axis and peripheral immune system in neuroinflammation.
- Apply nutritional, dietary, and lifestyle strategies to manage neurodegeneration.
