Description

This 15-hour course, led by Dr. Mike Nelson, explores recent neuroscience research and its direct application to clinical practice. Using an 8-step research analysis model, participants will review peer-reviewed studies covering neurodegenerative disease, cognition, nutrition, metabolism, and neuromodulation. Topics include ketogenic diets in Alzheimer’s care, creatine and depression, L-theanine for stress, heat therapy in neurodegeneration, and brain-gut interactions. Each session includes article review, guided lecture, and a comprehension quiz to reinforce critical thinking and real-world integration. This course also satisfies CE hours for diplomate and fellowship maintenance.

What you’ll learn:

  • Evaluate neuroscience literature using an 8-step clinical relevance framework.
  • Translate evidence on ketogenic diets, creatine, and heat therapy into brain health strategies.
  • Analyze neurocognitive outcomes tied to glucose metabolism, insulin resistance, and gut microbiota.
  • Apply current research on Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, stress modulation, and autonomic function to improve patient care.
