Course Description
This 25-hour course provides an in-depth exploration of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and related neurodevelopmental conditions, focusing on diagnostic clarity, developmental progression, and the underlying neurophysiological mechanisms. Clinicians will examine DSM-V diagnostic categories, social and communication deficits, and emerging research on the mirror neuron system, brain-gut connection, serotonin pathways, and mitochondrial dysfunction. The course equips practitioners with the tools to recognize the diverse presentations of ASD and implement early, targeted interventions.
What you’ll learn:
- Understand the DSM-V diagnostic framework for Autism Spectrum Disorders and related conditions.
- Identify hallmark features of ASD including communication deficits and social interaction challenges.
- Analyze the role of the mirror neuron system, neurotransmitters, and brain-gut axis in ASD pathophysiology.
- Explore the developmental course, proposed causes, and comorbidities of ASD presentations.
