Course Description
The concept of the “wounded healer” suggests that personal adversity can deepen empathy and strengthen the therapeutic connection between clinician and patient. In this presentation, Ahmed Hankir reflects on the relationship between personal experience, professional identity, and compassionate medical practice. The lecture explores how healthcare professionals often face significant psychological stress while caring for others and how stigma can sometimes prevent them from seeking support. By examining the emotional realities of medical practice, this session highlights the importance of resilience, openness, and mental health awareness within the healthcare community. Participants will gain insight into how personal challenges can inform patient care and strengthen the clinician–patient relationship.
