Description

Functional Neurology Essentials® is a 50-hour immersive program designed to establish a strong clinical foundation in systems-based neurological assessment and rehabilitation. This course introduces clinicians to the core principles that define Functional Neurology, including hemisphericity, localization, neuroplasticity, nervous system optimization, and measurable neurological mapping. Participants will learn how to identify regions of functional underactivation across cortical, cerebellar, brainstem, basal ganglia, thalamic, and peripheral systems. Emphasis is placed on structured examination algorithms, autonomic assessment, vestibular integration, and cerebellar modeling to guide targeted interventions. The program integrates bottom-up and top-down neurorehabilitation strategies using evidence-informed dosing and application. Functional Neurology Essentials® provides the clinical reasoning framework required to build precision-based neurological care.

What you’ll learn:

  • Define Functional Neurology as a systems-based, neuroplasticity-driven clinical discipline.
  • Apply structured localization algorithms to identify neural underactivation.
  • Assess hemisphericity using motor, sensory, reflexive, and autonomic markers.
  • Differentiate the seven levels of neurological decompensation.
  • Evaluate cerebellar, vestibular, cortical, basal ganglia, and thalamic dysfunction patterns.
  • Perform autonomic assessment including HRV, blood pressure, and reflexive testing.
  • Implement bottom-up and top-down neurorehabilitation strategies.
  • Apply the Ten Principles of Neuroplasticity to optimize treatment dosing and progression.
  • Develop nervous system optimization plans based on measurable clinical findings.
  • Integrate Functional Neurology into everyday patient care with clinical precision.
