Your interventions are affecting the brain.

Now, do it with intention.

Every stretch, manipulation, exercise, and sensory input delivers information to the brain. Functional Neurology helps you understand how that information is processed, so subtle refinements create broader, faster improvements in function and quality of life.

No new tools. Just deeper control over the ones you already use.

What's Really Happening?

Physical care is neurological input.

Any time you activate a sensory receptor — improving range of motion, manipulating a joint, challenging balance, or progressing movement — the brain is electrified.

That electricity creates neuroplastic changes and updates how the system organizes movement, perception, cognition, and emotion.

Functional Neurology allows you to understand and harness that process to create the most effective outcomes.

INTENTIONALITY

From helpful outcomes to intentional change

Understanding what your care is really influencing

Clinicians intuitively understand cause and effect within their scope.

  • You mobilize → range improves
  • You load → strength increases
  • You challenge balance → stability adapts

Functional Neurology adds the next layer: understanding how those same interventions shape brain function, and how small, intentional changes can dramatically alter the brain's response.

THE FRAMEWORK

What Clinicians Are Really Asking For

Access the Free Training

Clinicians don't want rigid recipes — they want confidence. Functional Neurology provides a clear clinical framework: observe function, identify meaningful dysfunction, apply targeted physical input, and reassess how the brain adapts.

This creates repeatability without removing clinical judgment.

Real Stories. Real Progress.

The Carrick Institute has been, for me, one of the most important resources to learn about clinical neuroscience. The self-paced/on-demand courses are amazing and very convenient. I look forward to continuing to learn from them.

Six years into practice, and I still felt like there were so many unanswered questions about why I could help some patients more than others; why chiropractic would "work" for some and not for others. After going through my first five modules, and with a lot of support from the faculty, I am seeing more clearly how I can more regularly produce the "miracle" patients reliably, instead of popping and praying. Well worth the shock of going back to school!

The Carrick Institute is a great place to learn contemporary neuroscience. I would highly recommend any doctor or practitioner take their courses to further their education and help patients at the highest level.

Carrick Institute has been such a positive influence on my clinical skills. I have applied something each module I have learned and helped patients progress. The instructors are such passionate docs for teaching and have a great clinical perspective. Thanks for all the years of influence to my practice and many other learners.

Common Questions

Is this right for my license type?
Yes. Functional Neurology is discipline-agnostic — clinicians of all license types benefit. Our scholars include chiropractors, PTs, OTs, MDs, DOs, and more.
What is the Chiropractic Neurology Diplomate?
The Chiropractic Neurology Diplomate (DACANB) is a board-certified specialty credential recognized by the American Chiropractic Association. It designates a chiropractor who has completed advanced postgraduate training in clinical neuroscience and passed a comprehensive board examination. The CNS Curriculum at the Carrick Institute provides the required 300+ hours of education and structured preparation for this examination.
How soon can I apply this in practice?
Immediately. The framework is designed for real-world clinical application. Most scholars report using what they've learned within days.
What is the ACFN Functional Neurology Fellowship?
The Functional Neurology Fellowship through the American College of Functional Neurology (ACFN) is a professional credential for clinicians who demonstrate advanced competency in functional neurology assessment and rehabilitation. The CNS Curriculum prepares candidates for this examination through the same core clinical neuroscience education pathway.
What if I can't attend live sessions?
All content is available on-demand. Live AMA sessions are optional and recordings are available for those who can't attend in real time.
What is the difference between the Diplomate and the Fellowship?
Both credentials share a common foundation in clinical neuroscience, but they differ in scope, examining body, and professional emphasis. The Diplomate is recognized through the ACA and focuses on chiropractic neurology as a specialty. The Fellowship is granted by the ACFN and centers on functional neurology applications. The CNS Curriculum prepares you for both.
Does this count toward CE requirements?
Yes. Carrick Institute courses are approved for continuing education credits. Check our CE Portal for approval details by state, province, and license type.
How many hours are required for board eligibility?
Candidates must complete a minimum of 300 hours of approved postgraduate education in clinical neuroscience to be eligible for the board examination. The CNS Curriculum provides 305 credit hours, meeting and exceeding this requirement through 11 live modules and 2 self-paced modules.
How long does it take to complete the program?
The Fast Track format delivers the full curriculum within approximately 12 to 14 months of live sessions. You have 36 months from the date of purchase to complete all requirements. Sessions are typically held over 3-day weekends (Friday through Sunday) to minimize time away from practice.
Can I attend sessions at different locations?
Yes. The CNS Curriculum is offered at multiple venues worldwide, and you can attend modules at any location. This gives you the flexibility to choose dates and venues that fit your schedule, or to accelerate your progress by combining sessions across locations.
Is there a live stream option?
Select sessions at the Carrick Institute Learning Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida are available via live stream. Contact the Carrick Institute for the most current availability.
Who teaches the program?
The CNS Curriculum is led by Carrick Institute Faculty — internationally recognized clinicians and educators in clinical neuroscience and functional neurology. Faculty details are available on the Carrick Institute website.
How much does the program cost?
The full CNS Curriculum is $12,125. This includes all 13 modules (11 live + 2 self-paced), 36 months of Medline access, 36 months of course access, and a Certificate of Completion. Contact the Carrick Institute for current payment plan options.
Do I need any prerequisites?
The program is designed for licensed healthcare providers. No prior neurology specialization is required. The curriculum is structured to build progressively, so each module prepares you for the next.
