Course Description
Falls represent a significant risk for individuals living with neurological injury. In this session, Guido Pagnacco explores how brain injury can disrupt the neurological systems responsible for balance and postural control. Participants will examine how sensory integration, motor coordination, and neurological signaling contribute to stable movement. The lecture highlights factors that increase fall risk in brain-injured patients, including impaired balance, gait abnormalities, and reduced motor coordination. Clinicians will review methods used to assess stability and mobility as part of neurological rehabilitation. The session also discusses rehabilitation strategies designed to strengthen balance control and reduce fall risk. By understanding the neurological and biomechanical mechanisms underlying instability, practitioners can develop targeted interventions that improve mobility, enhance safety, and support recovery for individuals living with brain injury.
What you’ll learn:
- Understand how brain injury affects balance and postural control.
- Recognize neurological factors that increase fall risk.
- Identify clinical methods used to assess gait and stability.
- Explore rehabilitation strategies aimed at improving balance.
- Apply fall prevention strategies to enhance patient safety.
