Michael Hoffman
Dr. Michael Hoffmann is a neurologist and academic physician with expertise in cognitive neurology, stroke, and brain health. He serves as Professor of Neurology at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine and has held multiple leadership roles in clinical neurology, including Chief of Neurology Services and Director of a Stroke Center within the Veterans Affairs healthcare system .
Dr. Hoffmann earned his medical degree at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and completed fellowship training in stroke and cerebrovascular disease at Columbia University in New York. He later obtained two senior doctorates, including an MD in cerebrovascular medicine and a PhD in behavioral medicine .
His clinical and research work focuses on cognitive disorders following stroke, traumatic brain injury, and neurodegenerative conditions. He has also contributed to research on brain health and cognitive function, with an emphasis on understanding and improving neurological outcomes through evidence-based approaches .
In addition to his academic and clinical roles, Dr. Hoffmann serves as a cognitive neurology consultant and has been involved in multidisciplinary research and education initiatives. He has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and multiple books related to cognitive and behavioral neurology .
Dr. Hoffmann’s work reflects a continued focus on integrating clinical practice, research, and education to advance understanding of brain function and neurological disease.
