Aasef Shaikh

Dr. Aasef G. Shaikh, MD, PhD is a neurologist and neuroscientist specializing in movement and vestibular disorders. He holds the Penni and Stephen Weinberg Chair in Brain Health and serves as Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Neurology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. Additionally, he is a Professor of Neurology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and directs the National VA Parkinson's Disease Consortium Center at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. Dr. Shaikh's research focuses on the application of control systems engineering to complex disorders of the vestibular system, eye movements, head movements, gait, and balance. His work aims to discover novel network connections and leverage their influence to modulate motor circuits artificially for the treatment of intractable neurological conditions. He has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the American Academy of Neurology Alliance Founders Award and the American Neurological Association Grass Foundation Award in Neuroscience.
