About

Elena Oggero

Dr. Elena Oggero is a biomechanical engineer and researcher with extensive experience in functional neurology, human movement science, and medical device development. She earned a combined B.S./M.S. degree from Politecnico di Torino (Italy), where her thesis focused on mathematical modeling of human–vehicle interactions in side-impact conditions. She later completed her PhD in Mechanical Engineering at The Ohio State University, with research centered on optimizing force plate design for gait analysis.

Dr. Oggero is a partner at Vestibular Technologies, LLC, and holds academic appointments as Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Wyoming and Professor of Biomechanical Engineering at the Carrick Institute. She also serves on the Board of Examiners for the American Board of Vestibular Rehabilitation and is co-chair of the Rocky Mountain Bioengineering Symposium.

With over 25 years of research experience, Dr. Oggero’s work has spanned vehicle safety and crashworthiness, gait and postural analysis, and the development and validation of medical devices. Her current research includes investigations into balance and pregnancy, as well as collaborative studies within and beyond the CAPS® Research Network.

Her interdisciplinary interests include functional neurology, biomechanics of human locomotion and postural control, engineering design of sensors and systems, and computational modeling of biological systems. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, holds multiple U.S. patents, and serves as a reviewer for scientific journals including Gait & Posture and Biomedical Sciences Instrumentation.

Dr. Oggero has received several honors for her contributions to research and education, including the University of Wyoming Women of Distinction Award and recognition from the Rocky Mountain Bioengineering Symposium.
